Perhaps it is because I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m still new to the adventure that contemporary art offers.  Where an initial impression might be \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Dear Lord, what is that?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d or perhaps a good hard laugh\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6like when I approached <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tate.org.uk\/servlet\/ViewWork?workid=4492\"><em>Spatial Concept \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcWaiting\u00e2\u20ac\u2122<\/em> by Lucio Fontana<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Honestly, a slashed canvas didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t move me.  But, armed with an Antenna Audio PDA, I dove into the interpretation\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6and discovered a doorway in.  Simplicity, movement, sculpture, opening, opportunity\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6the hole became a portal to my future.  And I knew, with all my heart\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6that when given that small window\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m ready to look, listen, taste, consider and leap. <\/p>\n<p><div class=\"imgdeco\"><img src=\"\/images\/ishi.jpg\" alt=\"large egglike sculpture with a vertical opening.  white on outside, reflective deep red, almost black on the inside\"\/><\/div>\n<p>And while bonding  with \u00e2\u20ac\u0153<em>Waiting<\/em>\u00e2\u20ac\u009d required a little interpretive help from the PDA\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6my connection to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tate.org.uk\/servlet\/ViewWork?workid=79550\">Anish Kapoor\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s <em>Ishi\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Light<\/em> 2003<\/a> was instant.  I didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t need to know the title or have anyone tell me what this work might mean\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6I understood instinctually\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6as though the piece spoke directly to my soul.  When I resonate with a work of art like this, it is as though I have found completeness.  My mind clears and I feel as though I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve been filled with light.  I could stay there all day\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6but realize I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t need to\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6because once I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve experience a work on this level\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6it becomes a part of me.<\/p>\n<p>I wonder if the energy I feel pouring off <em>Ishi\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Light<\/em> comes directly from the artist&#8230;or if the work actually absorbs and reflects the \u00c3\u00a9lan of all the souls that have communed with it.<\/p>\n<p>So, what about you?  Have you ever \u00e2\u20ac\u0153fallen into a work of art with all of your being\u00e2\u20ac\u009d?  Do you ever connect with a piece without knowing anything about it?  Have you ever initially rejected a work as junk only to fall in love with it later?
