A musical baton has been passed to me by Rob and Andy. So, cowpie and malarkey, may I have this dance?

Justin, thanks for playing! It really is just a fun way for bloggers to get to know one another. I see that the baton just got passed to Zeldman by Jason Santa Maria. I think it is cool…and I HATE chain email!

Thanks for passing me the baton! It is a fun diversion, and it’s interesting to see everyone’s responses. I have learned about some new tunes to listen too, as well– I’m always behind on that front.
I can’t get visions of Malarkey as a rock star out of my head, either. I must know what he played– tambourine? Maracas? Angry vocals? And think of the possibilities for his hairdo as a band member in 1982! Classic. :)

Now, now Andrea. Last time it was the monkey picture gag and now it’s jibes at my circa 1982 mullet hairdo. Put a stop to this right now! ;)
(I played keyboards (with two fingers). It was the thing to play back then and I got the gig because I could pout and suck my cheekbones in better than anyone else. Nowt to do with my musical skills, I can assure you.

Now answer me a riddle, Ms. GoodWitch. How come not one of your Wizards is a woman? Not that your list isn’t filled with wonderful, inspirational, and oft handsome dashing brilliant men. But.
On another topic, Lamb has got to be one of the most imaginative books of all time. I am a huge Christopher Moore fan. Nice to see it on your reading list.

I’ll see your seven veils & raise you a coin belt & a scarab! Now, will you teach me how to belly dance? I’m ready!
And the answer to the riddle is this: The primary reason I started blogging was to maintain a connection with the simply amazing people I met at SXSW 2005. I couldn’t imagine going a year without sharing brainspace with them. Each of these wizards inspired me to create glendathegood.com (whether they realize it or not). And in line with Featherstone’s post on “hearing voices“, I chose people who I’d engaged in one-on-one interactions.
But your question makes me think “how provincial of me”. So, over the next weeks I’ll be rethinking my wizard list…and questioning my need to “know” the person in the third dimension!

I was thinking about this last night during a girls’ night out with a friend:
I think what we should do is put together a Girls Pack, in the spirit of the Brit Pack. Then we can refer to “fellow Girls Pack members” and get everyone curious to know who all these talented women are… The list would be long and impressive!
It may need a better name, though. Web Goddesses? Web Grrlz? Any ideas?
I’m going to start compiling a list. I’m not big on blogrolls because I find them exclusionary — it’s not their intention, but for me that’s the reality. But I would be on board with one that serves a greater good by getting the names of awesome women out to the public. What do you think?

Oh lovvely Ms. Good: It’ll be interesting to see how your Wizard list expands. Actually, one of the things I took from sxsw was to expand my horizons in that regard. The Blogging While Black panel encouraged everyone to look at their blogrolls with scrutiny. And so I did, and a new realm opened unto me.
I’ve always thought I’d enjoy learning to belly dance. In the meantime, I can shake it on a floor. Next time we meet.
Andrea: “girlpack” is perfect. Gather names! You coordinate, I’ll help however I can. I also can add to it.
